Juliette Greco Biography

Juliette Greco's career has been played out against a backdrop of Bohemianism and existentialism in the glittering cafe society. From the heyday of Paris's buzzing Left Bank, when Sartre and Camus used to sit and discuss philosophy in the Cafe de Flore, and young French teenagers hung out all night in the wild jazz clubs and cabarets of la rue Dauphine, Greco rose to fame as the face of France's New Bohemianism. Through the 60's and 70's to the present day, Greco has established herself as one of the most legendary french artists ever. Muse to the Parisian literary scene of the '50s, godmother of songwriter-led '60s French pop, and a self-reinventing torch singer from the '70s until now, Juliette Greco is one of the great French recording artists of the 20th century.
