(Double Album)

Po Na Na Music is set to launch their first compilation album in March 2002. Discriminating against commercial and digital music, the album explores both laid back and dancefloor tracks with Brazilian, Cuban and African influenced sounds. This album fuses the Latin dance flavour of Buena Vista Social Club’s Cachaito with credible soulful House by Masters at Work incorporating music past and present. Po Na Na’s raison d’etre has always been its music, leading the Moroccan inspired bar and club chain to compile two CD’s that exemplify the ambience of the Souk bars and Fez clubs, strengthening the brand’s core musical reputation. Po Na Na music’s album - Door to the Souk - will capture the vibrancy of the brand with a ‘global dance music’ content covering a variety of musical genres, including Latin, jazz, reggae, hip-hop and house. Po Na Na has compiled an album of exceptional musical quality, deviating from current digital and commercial sounding bar and chill-out compilations. The first CD focuses upon retrospective and nostalgic music with tracks on the album that chart the history of Po Na Na, taking listeners back to it’s musical origins, while the second encompasses some of today’s coolest house music. The first CD contains tracks by the Buena Vista Social Club’s Cachaito, Bebel Gilberto (who’s mother sang the 60’s classic ‘The Girl from Ipanema’), Manu Chao and Barrington Levy. The second CD has tracks by Bob Sinclair, Masters at Work, Kings of Tomorrow and Sonique. A number of tracks will be appearing for the first time on CD, including Naked Music’s artist Petal Pusher’s Rely on Me and Faze Action’s remix of Femi Kuti’s, Do Your Best.
