The word "superstar" is just not enough to describe the dimensions of Eros Ramazotti's worldwide success. The man is an undeniable force of nature, and now, 30 years after his debut single, and a dizzying 50 million record sales later, Ramazotti is ready to add the latest chapter to an incredible story. It's the tale of someone who, even as a young man born and raised in the Rome suburb of Cinecitta, dared to dream that he could have a shot of a music career. As a young hopeful learning as many ropes as he could get his hands on, he took up the guitar at seven and found his way onto movie sets as an extra. His family, far from frowning on his pop aspirations, encouraged young Eros, and he wrote his formative songs in collaboration with his father Rodolfo, a construction worker by day but musician by night. In 1981, he took part in the Voci Nuove di Castrocaro song contest and made the finals with the self-penned Rock 80, leading to his first record deal, with the up-and-coming DDD label. In 1982, Ramazotti released his first single, Ad un amico and worked with Italian singer-songwriter Renato Brioschi, who would mentor him to victory in the 1984 edition of the famed Sanremo Festival, as best new act. when he released his first album Cuori Agitati, Ramazotti's material would always be recorded and released in both Italian and Spanish. The single Una storia importante became a million-seller in France alone, and a hit around Europe. Eros was becoming an international name. In the summer of 1995, he took part in the European Music Summer Festival, together with Rod Stewart, Elton John and Joe Cocker. Then in 1996, in a significant artistic statement, he released his first completely self-produced album, Dove c'e Musica, to an incredible response of seven million worldwide sales. In 2007 his greatest hits "e2" (Eros Squared became the best selling album in Italy, ten times platinum and a big seller globally. In 2011, Eros was named Best International Music Artist at Germany's annual Die Goldene Kamera film and TV awards. 2012 brings a new album 'Noi' and a new recording contract with Universal.
